The Pro Se Bar Association

Is an active, reliable and up to date forum and resource for legal information, support,

association and discussion among people who want to know, exercise and protect their rights,

privileges and immunities in the courts, with the assistance of an attorney or themselves,

without the assistance of an attorney.

Pro Se litigation is complex and challenging.

The Pro Se Bar Association is committed to ensuring effective and meaningful access to

justice for the self-represented. It's mission is to keep its members informed and up to date,

with a reliable forum and information about exercising and protecting their fundamental rights,

privileges and immunities under the Constitution and laws of the United States; and, to be a

source of support that will enable them to effectively exercise their fundamental constitutional

right to petition the courts for redress of their legitimate legal claims and grievances,

The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free

exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the

people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The First Amendment was written because at America's inception, citizens

demanded a guarantee of their basic freedoms. Our blueprint for personal freedom

and the hallmark of an open society, the First Amendment protects freedom of speech, press, religion,

provided that "in all the courts of the United States, the parties may plead and manage their own causes

personally or by the assistance of . . . counsel . . . ." The right is currently codified in 28 U.S.C. 1654. "
